If you’re looking for a stunning location to photograph a maternity session, Rodeo Beach during golden hour is an absolute must. As a photographer who has had the pleasure of capturing some gorgeous moments at this location, it is for sure one of my go to places, let me share a few tips to help make your shoot a success.
First things first – timing is key. Golden hour is the ideal time to shoot because the light is warm and soft, and creates a stunning glow in your photos. I love the warmth and softness it gives the photos I usually start one hour before sunset and shoot a few minutes past it.
Rodeo Beach has some amazing spots for photos, including the beach itself and the surrounding cliffs, the waves can be a bit strong, and the tide can rise quick so be careful if you decide to venture out onto the sand. You don’t want to get soaked (unless that’s the look you’re going for, of course!).
When it comes to posing your subject, I encourage my clients to move and pose in a way that feels natural and comfortable for them, I’m always guiding and directing them so they feel comfortable and confident being themselves in front of my lenses.
Rodeo Beach can also be quite breezy, but the wind can also add an element to the photos, don’t be afraid to get creative.
Play with the light, experiment with poses and let your imagination run wild!
All in all, photographing at Rodeo Beach during golden hour is an amazing experience, with a landscape like that, all you need are two clients who trust your vision and are willing to have fun, If you want to book your own maternity session or gift one to a special friend, click here so we can create magic!
