Hello, beautiful moms! As a mom and a photographer, I feel the excitement and anticipation that comes with the arrival of a new baby. I’ve been in your shoes, and I can tell you that the joy of holding your newborn for the first time is something you’ll remember forever. I love capturing these moments and these 5 tips can help you prep for your session!!
#1 Timing is Key
The best time to photograph a newborn baby is during the first two weeks of life. During this time, they are usually sleeping deeply and curling up naturally into those sweet poses that we all love!! Try to plan your session within this time to capture those perfect shots. But remember, babies have their own schedules! They might not be ready when we want them to, and that’s okay. Patience is essential here. We’ll work around their sleep and feeding times to ensure we get the best photos possible, even if it means waiting a little longer.
#2 Feed Your Baby Before the Session
A well-fed baby is a happy baby! And a happy baby makes it easier for us to capture the best photos. So, try to time your feeding so that right after, we can get started with the session! This helps to ensure that your baby is content and sleepy. Plus, feeding can be a beautiful bonding moment to capture on camera! Whether it’s a bottle or a breastfeeding session, these moments of connection between you and your baby are precious and worth capturing.
#3 It’s All About Comfort
We want your baby to be as cozy and comfortable as possible during the session. So, keep the room warm and quiet. Soft fabrics and blankets work great at keeping your little one snuggled and secure. Feel free to add your baby’s favorite blanket or stuffed animal. These personal touches make your photos even more special! Remember, our goal is to create an environment that feels warm and comfortable!
#4 Include Older Siblings
If your newborn has older siblings, let’s involve them in the session! This isn’t just a big moment for you and your partner; it’s an important part of their lives too. We can capture the bond between them and their new baby brother or sister. It can be as simple as them holding the baby’s hand or giving them a gentle kiss on the forehead. These are the moments that create lasting family memories!
#5 Relax and Enjoy the Moment
Last but not least, remember to relax! It might sound cliché, but your baby can really pick up on your energy. If you’re relaxed, chances are, your baby will be too. This is a beautiful moment in your family’s life, and it’s important to enjoy it. We’re here to capture the love and connection in your family.
